Here's how to link Aadhaar with PAN using SMS

The Income Tax Department declared today that taxpayers should link their PAN card with their Aadhaar card using an easy SMS-based process.

SMS format to link Aadhaar with PAN

Send SMS to 567678 or 56161 in following format:
UIDPAN<12 digit Aadhaar><10 digit PAN>
Example: UIDPAN 3421342112341234 AAAAAE12EE

The department issued ads in newspapers across the country and explained how both the both the unique identity numbers of a person can be attached by sending a message to either 56161 or 567678.
People can also go to the official e-filing website of the Income Tax Department and link both these documents. Linking these two proofs of identity will help you to get tax facilities online.
Aadhaar can also be fed into PAN database by mentioning Aadhar in PAN application to get a new PAN allotment or by mentioning Aadhaar in the request to change for that is used to reprint a PAN card, explained an advertisement. Once the UIDAI (Unique Identification Authority of India) verifies the data, the linking will be completed.
The individual will receive an OTP from the Aadhar database to their registered mobile number. It has been made compulsory by the government, for the tax payers, to mention the Aadhar or the enrolment id at the time of filing their Income-Tax returns (ITR).

Procedure for Linking PAN Card and Aadhaar Card

In order to link PAN and Aadhaar cards, tax payers have to first register on the Income tax e-Filing portal. Once they have done so, they are to follow the steps outlined below:

• Log in to the e-Filing portal of the Income Tax Department by entering the log-in ID, password and date of birth
• On logging in to the site, a pop up window will appear, prompting you to link your PAN card with Aadhaar card.
• Details such as name, date of birth and gender will already be mentioned as per the details submitted at the time of registration on the e-Filing portal.
• Verify the details on screen with the ones mentioned on your Aadhaar card.
• If the details match, enter your Aadhaar card number and click on the “link now” button.
• A pop-up message will inform you that your Aadhaar card has been successfully linked to your PAN card.

Step 1:
Open the Income Tax e-filing portal.
Register on it. Your PAN (Permanent Account Number) will be your user id.
Login on the page using your User ID, Password and Date of Birth.
Here a popup window will appear if not just find the blue tab on the highest bar named ‘Profile Settings’ on Menu bar and click on on ‘Link Aadhaar’.

Step 2:
Add the required details like name, DOB and gender as per pan details after Enter your 12 digit Aadhaar card number and verify captcha and Click On Link Aadhaar. 

Step 3:
Finally a popup message will display as your Aadhaar card has been successfully linked to your PAN card.

Importance of Linking PAN Card with Aadhaar Card

Both the PAN card as well as the Aadhaar card are unique identification cards that serve as proof of identity that are necessary for registration and verification purposes.
The government has urged all entities to link their PAN cards with their Aadhaar cards. This is being done for the following purposes:
Prevent Tax Evasion:
By linking the Aadhaar and PAN cards, the government will be able to keep tabs on the taxable transactions of a particular individual or entity, whose identity and address will be verified by his Aadhaar card. This will effectively mean that every taxable transaction or activity will be recorded by the government.
As a result, the government will already have a detailed record of all the financial transactions that would attract tax for each entity, making tax evasion a thing of the past.
Multiple PAN Cards:
Another reason for linking PAN with Aadhaar is to reduce the occurrence of individuals or entities applying for multiple PAN cards in an effort to defraud the government and avoid paying taxes.
By applying for more than one PAN card, an entity can use one of the cards for a certain set of financial transactions and pay taxes applicable for those. Meanwhile, the other PAN card can be used for accounts or transactions that the entity wishes to conceal from the Income Tax department, thereby avoiding paying tax on them.
By linking the PAN and Aadhaar card, the government will be able to link the identity of an entity through his/her Aadhaar card, and subsequently have details of all financial transactions made through the linked PAN card. If there are multiple PAN cards registered under the same name, the government will be able to identify the same and take corrective action.
Ease in Filing of Income Tax Returns:
Entities who have linked their PAN and Aadhaar cards will be able to file their e-Returns, or their online Income Tax returns seamlessly and quickly. By linking the two, entities will no longer have to submit their Income Tax acknowledgement to the IT department, thus saving tax payers a lot of trouble.

Correction facility for linking PAN with Aadhaar is launched by the Income Tax Department

The IT department has started the online facility for correction of errors in names and other information present on the Aadhaar document and Permanent Account Number (PAN) card. The Income Tax department already launched the facility to link the PAN Card with Aadhaar. Now it has also added two hyperlinks on the official website for e-filing of tax. One link takes to the application page for Permanent Account number by an Indian national or a foreigner and the other link takes you to the page where you can update all the necessary changes. In order to update all the Aadhaar details, an individual can easily log on to the Aadhaar SSUP (Self Service Update Portal). He/she can also upload all the scanned documents that are needed as data update request proof.
More than 1.22 crore assessees have already linked their PAN and Aadhaar. However, this number is pretty low as the total number of people who got Aadhaar is 111 crore and the number of people who have been issued PAN stands at over 25 crore. According to the statistics offered by the Income Tax department, at present, there are only 6 crore people in India who file their income tax properly.
As per Arun Jaitley, the Finance Minister of India, made the Aadhaar mandatory for the filing of Income Tax. This was done so that tax evaders are not able to avoid their tax payments by showing multiple PAN cards.

From Midnight Tonight Rs 500 And Rs 1000 Notes Are Pulled Out, Says PM Modi

1. Rs 1000 and Rs 500 currency notes in circulation in the country will become illegal from midnight of November 8-9
2. They will have no value from midnight
3. Rs 100, Rs 50, Rs 20, Rs 10, Rs 5, Rs 1 notes and all coins remain legal tender
4. Old notes of Rs 1000 and Rs 500 can be deposited at all bank branches and all post offices across the from November 10 to December 30
5. An ID proof like Aadhar Card, Passport, Bank Pass Book will have to be presented while depositing the notes
6. The money thus deposited in an account will remain with the account holder
7. ATM counters and bank branches will remain closed on November 9 (tomorrow) and in some places even on November 10
8. New Rs 500 and Rs 2000 denomination notes will be available from November 11. No new Rs 1000 notes will be issued by the Reserve Bank of India.
9. From November 11 there will be a maximum draw limit of Rs 2000 at ATMs, later it will be increased to Rs 4000
10.  From 72 hours from midnight of tonight i.e. till the midnight of November 11, government hospitals, railway and government bus counters, airline ticket counters, milk booths, petrol/diesel/CNG pumps, state co-operatives, crematoria and burial grounds will continue to accept old notes.

    What You Can Do With Your Rs 500, Rs 1000 Notes :

    
    1.

    Deposit old notes of Rs 500 and 1000 in banks or post offices between November 10 and December 30, 2016.

    2.

    Those who are unable to, can exchange notes till March 31, 2017 at specified RBI offices after furnishing proper declaration.

    3.

    There will be an initial limit of Rs 10,000 per day and Rs 20,000 per week on withdrawal of money. This limit is to be increased soon.

    4.

    ATM withdrawal limit of Rs 2000 per day per card initially and this will be later raised to Rs 4000 per day

    5.

    Exchange of old notes for cash upto a limit of Rs 4000 possible at any bank or post office by producing valid ID proof.

    6.

    Rs 500, Rs 1000 notes will be accepted at hospitals, drug stores till November 12.

    7.

    Arrangements have been made at airports so that travellers entering/leaving the country are not inconvenienced.

    8.

    The notes can also be used at designated fuelling stations till November 12.

    9.

    Petrol pumps and retail outlets will have to keep every single entry of cash transaction with Rs 500 and 1000 notes till November 11.

    10.

    ATMs will not function on November 09 and at some places on November 10 as well.

    11.

    No restriction on non-cash payments including transactions by cheques, demand drafts, electronic fund transfers, debit and credit cards.

Bus Falls Off Bridge; 21 Killed, 30 Injured In Puruna Manitri Of Angul District

In a shocking incident, at least 21 persons were killed and over 30 critically injured when a private bus fell off 50 feetfrom a bridge near Puruna Manitri at Athmallick area in Angul district on Friday morning.

While 14 were killed on the spot, 7 others died in the hospital.

The bus named ‘Maharaja’ carrying around over 60 passengers was on the way to Athmallik from Boudh.

The deceased include four women and some school and college students. The injured persons were rushed to Angul district headquarters hospital and other hospitals.

Victim’s Father Seeks Withdrawal Of Case Against Papu; Court Rejects Affidavit

The case of sexual abuse of a minor girl against the Odia actor Tatwa Prakash Satapathy alias Papu Pom Pom has surprised. The victim’s father has filed an affidavit to reject the petition against the actor.
He wanted to withdraw the case as the matter had been solved in a friendly manner among both the parties.
But, the court rejected the affidavit, said Babita Kar, Secretary of Friends Foundation. The Court allowed the case to continue saying, such cases cannot be compromised as the law does not allow it.
Papu and his associate Gitu are in judicial custody after police arrested him on charges of sexually abusing a minor girl by making false promises to propel her on films.
The court rejected the affidavit, as only the High Court has the jurisdiction to rule over whether such cases can be withdrawn.

148 Special Trains To Puri For Ratha Jatra 2016

East Coast Railways (ECoR) has decided to run 148 special trains to cope with the expected rush of passengers for Puri Rath Jatra on July 6. Besides the special trains, as many as 29 booking counters and 25 additional booking counters will be opened at various places of the holy town, ECoR officials said.

ECoR will run the special trains to Puri from Khurda, Bhubaneswar, Bhadrak, Cuttack, Paradip, Berhampur, Palasa and Visakhapatnam in Andhra Pradesh, Bhawanipatna, Keonjhar, Bangiriposi (Mayurbhanj), Sambalpur and Jagdalpur (Chhattisgarh) between July 5 and July 16, the officials said.
Six trains will run to Puri for Netra Utsav ritual of the holy trinity on July 5 (a day before Ratha Jatra), while 26 trains will run for Gundicha Jatra (first day of Ratha Jatra) on July 6, officials added.
As many as 40 trains will be run between July 7 and July 13 for Sandhya Darshan of the deities. ECoR has arranged 22 trains for Bahuda Yatra on July 15 and 24 for Sunabesha ritual of the deities that falls the day after the Bahuda Jatra.

The ECoR will also run six trains the day after Suna Besha on July 16. Besides, 16 trains will be extended from their originating stations to Puri as special trains in view of the rush. All special trains will be named as Yatra Express Special, said the sources.

Govt Of Odisha To Provide Higher Education Loan At 1% interest

Naveen Patnaik Chief Minister of Odisha on Monday launched a new scheme “Kalinga Siksha Sathi Yojana” to provide education loan at 1% interest to students for pursuing higher studies. The state government will meet the fund requirement of about Rs 500 crore from its own resources.

“In line with the promise of providing education loan at less interest rate, today the state government has decided to provide education loan at 1 per cent per annum. This will be a major help for students pursuing higher education including Management, Law, Engineering, Medicine etc,” said the Chief Minister.

Asserting that he fully understood the financial stress parents undergo in meeting the education cost of their children, Patnaik said the historic and pioneering step of the government will reduce the loan burden of lakhs and lakhs of parents. This will also financially empower the poor students to pursue their aspiration in higher education, he added.

“I dedicate the scheme to the foresight of Biju babu on his birth centenary who had instituted ‘Kalinga UNESCO’ award for the popularisation of science when he was only 35 years old,” said the Chief Minister.

Step 3 : First Selection List & Admission :

After this two steps the students work is over. Now the department will scrutinize these application form.  The department will publish the First Selection List of the candidates those are allowed to take admission into the college according to there +2 mark in the official website. The candidates are bound to take admission to the college which will be allotted to him otherwise he will be removed from the admission process. To know your allotted college, go to the DHE website, enter your MRN number, then print the Allotment letter. This allotment letter is required at the time of admission in the college. So if a candidates has not get his choicefull college should also take admission on the provided college, because he/she can change his college after admission if vacancies will be available in his choice full college. So don't do the mistake.

How To Take Admission ?

To take admission you have to go to the allotted college with your print copy of application form which you have received after submission your application at SAMS center. The college will take the required admission fee from you, and your admission process will over.

Step 4: Second Selection List & Admission :

After first phase admission process again the department will publish the second selection list of candidates. The process is same as above. The students those have not got a seat in first round of allotment may get a seat in any college in second round. The selected candidates have to take admission in the allotted college

Step 5: SC/ST Extended Admission :

After the completion of the second round admission, a balance sheet will be prepared to see the vacancy positions in every colleges. In this vacancy round, only the SC/ST are allowed to take admission in the colleges.So the ST/SC candidates should register again in the website for the admission.

 Step 6 : College Transfer & Spot Admission

After the third phase admission, the department will publish a balance sheet to see the remained vacancies in various college. This is the time in which a candidates can change his college by contacting with his college authority. Midtree cofounder and former chairman Subroto Bagchi has been selected as head of the state’s Skill Development Authority by the government of Odisha. Bagchi has decided to take a salary of Rupees 1 per year for this role of head of  Skill Development Authority of Odisha.
