BJD MP And Former MLA Kalpataru Das Passes Away At 67

Senior BJD Leader, Rajyasabha MP and Former MLA of Dharmasala Mr. Kalpataru Das who was also a member of the Ethics Committee in Rajya Sabha died of cancer. He was admitted in AIIMS, New Delhi from Monday and on 25th July 2015 he died. His wife and his 3 sons presented in the hospital at the time of death.
He was born on 07/02/1948 in Bhotaka Village of Jajpur. He was selected as MLA of Dharmasala 4 times. His Son Pranab Balabantray is now the MLA of Dharmasala. His wife is Smt. Pratima Das. He was one of the strong leader in BJD and BJD has lost one of his top leader.Kalpataru, a seasoned politician, was credited with foiling the 2002 coup attempted by Pyari Mohan Mohapatra with the support of Dr. Damodar Rout. Despite the controversies, he enjoyed the trust and confidence of BJD supremo and Odisha CM Naveen Patnaik.

Governor Dr. SC Jamir, CM Naveen Patnaik, Former PCC President Niranjan Patnaik, Central Petrolium Minister Dharmendra Pradhan, Mp Baijayanta Pandaand other politicians and intellectuals have condoled his sudden demise.
